Before you buy a condo or townhouse, it’s very important to buy condominium insurance — even if your condominium has association insurance. That’s because association insurance ONLY covers:
» The person/association that owns your building
» The building that houses your condo
» Commonly owned property (your front door, windows)
» Persons that become injured in “common areas” of the condominium building/property
Condo Insurance covers:
» Losses to your unit resulting from damage (fire, burst water pipes, etc.)
» Losses as the result of theft
» Losses as the result of bodily injury liability
So be sure to check with your condominium association to make sure you purchase the level of condominium insurance to keep you covered.
